The Manchester Mafia are once again bringing us The Manchester International Festival! Reuniting chums Hans Ulrich Obrist, Maxine Peake, Bjork, legendary Mancunian Damon Albarn, Peter Saville (no relation to Jimmy) and the oldest swinger in town Dave Haslem. All together again for another money spinning year.

For twenty years or so I've been believing a lie or perhaps more accurately not believing the truth. I like to think I'm media savvy but the press in this country sowed a seed of doubt in my head back in 1989 and the years that followed, that maybe just perhaps it was the scousers fault, lets face it there's no love lost between UNITED and LFC fans so I swallowed it.

But today I think that Liverpool should be proud of it's self as a city, today it must be great to be a Scouser. I read somewhere that the Hillsborough report has wiped away any sense of celebration left over from LONDON 2012 it shouldn't have done. The OLYMPICS have been a lesson in perseverance tenacity human triumph and team spirit  what if not those very qualities have the families of the victims been showing over the last 23 years?

I bow my head in shame and have learnt something that I should have known already.....

If anyone has anything (except Airport parking) that they want me to plug over the next couple of weeks get it in soonish cos I'm on the move again next week and will no doubt have to make several thousand telephone calls and wait weeks to get my broadband back on......

As I am starting work HERE on Monday, post's may be a tad sporadic until I've settled in.

Not posting for a day or two, got a bit on. In the meantime there's this warming up to keep you occupied. My view is that as Marcus Doyle says it's gone on since old Foxy Talbot was a lad. What I will say though is that as it gets harder to trust the photograph you need to be able to trust the photographer more and more. Although to be fair to Edgar Martins it's only playing around with some stairs for aesthetic reasons, not faking mermaids frolicking in The River Irwell (now that's an idea)

Anyway Martins not had a chance to reply yet, No such thing as bad publicity though eh?

Fallow

Not going to be posting for a week or so, letting the blog go fallow. Expiration Notice vol 2 is due out next Monday 16th which we are working on and I'm also getting ready to upload a new series onto my homepage.
The new series "The Unofficial History of a School" is images of desk lids that have spent the best part of the last century being "customised" by Manchester school kids. More details will be on my homepage. So until next week have a good un.

At Last!

Good God how long does it take to get broadband in the UK! How embarrassing..... it can't be much worse anywhere else can it? Or am I just being spoilt? Anyway after twenty odd days I'm back on line. It's good to be back. Blogging gets a little addictive, listen to me Me ME..........

God I'm shouting already...................

Still Waiting

To get my broadband! After ten days for BT to connect my phone, AOL have said between ten and twenty days for connection. So still blagging Internet time from here and there. I hope that this time next week normal service from manchesterphotography will be resumed, in the mean time this is what's caught my eye over the last week................

Well I've finally moved, left town for sunny Salford and Chimney Pot Park. That's my street above, billed as "The most famous terraced houses in Britain" these streets are the original inspiration for that longest running of soaps Coronation Street. http://www.itv.com/coronationstreet/ The houses of course are Victorian "two up, two downs that have been reworked by Urban Splash. http://www.urbansplash.co.uk/ This area takes it's name from the adjacent park, real name, Langworthy Park (from where the above photograph was taken) which is raised above the near by houses, hence it's nickname, as all around it were chimney pots.

So I'm here but have not got broadband for another week or so. Posts are still going to be a bit hit n miss dependant on blagging internet access and stray wifi.

Back Soon

I won't be making any entries for a while, (see last post) as I'm moving and my Internet provider say's that it could take up to 20 days to connect me! How this can be I'm not sure. Anyway I will still be checking emails/comments etc, so stay in touch. I'll see you all soon....................
