Sodley-on-Sea Is Showing As Part Of This...........

Sodley-on-Sea has taken on a life of it's own. It's moved on from just being some daft c**t sticking bits of paper together in the back room of a semi in Salford, to being an Arts Council funded project. Funny how things happen.

So not only did it receive funding it's also going to be shown as part of Enlighten Manchester - Festival of Light and Sound Art 2015  at Central Library Manchester this coming December.

If you click on the link it tells you when and how you can book. Although it's free you still need to book. You can also book onto a couple of workshops that I'm doing starting this Saturday (14/11/15) They are not free.

Fight Night!

I'm sure it's not going to turn into a fight I'm just rolling with the styling of the poster. Mishka should have got Hodgson to come up here to Manchester for it. They could have done it in the wetherspoons at Piccadilly.
Should be interesting though, I would give it a go if I was in London, and it was free.....

TEDXSalford.

Many years ago in Salford you could well have heard William Crabtree talking about space or Karl Marx telling Engels what's what over a scoop at The Crescent. These days you are more likely to hear "Chelsea eat yer fucking chicken nuggets". But there are enclaves of more academic chat to be found in Salford. Not all Salfordians use the Lowry centre solely for auditions for Twat Factor. Oh yes we have our thinkers as well as our tinkers.

I must confess I didn't know that Salford had it's own branch of the TED organisation not till one of it's members Mike Metcalf got in touch to tell me about and event at The Lowry on the 21st of this month. He also pointed me in the direction of an interesting article about photography he had written HERE on the TEDXSalford site. Nice one, Salford has a broader intelligencer than me and Peter Hook.

This coming Saturday I've got some photo's being shown down at THE WHITWORTH as part of a night of music and projected photography. It's to tie in with the current exhibition
‘Land Between Us: power, place and dislocation’. The Wandering Eye.

The Wandering Eye are a grass roots photography group who are running a two day photography workshop at Fred Aldous. Their ultmate aim is to set up a community dark room in the city centre which I think is both noble and ambitious so goodluck to them. More details HERE.

Manchester based photographer Ed Watts has started to run photography workshops through Urbis. Ed's a great young photographer and a nice bloke to boot and he promises to show you how to avoid taking pictures of Manchester reflected in puddles........... Details below.

Alternate Wednesdays6-8pm1, 15, 29 July, 12, 26 August, 9, 23 September£5 per session, includes tea/coffee
In each session you will be set a theme to test your creative response, you will take a journey around the city using the urban surroundings as a backdrop. The session concludes with an informal discussion looking at each image, discussing and brainstorming the success of the work or how the photographs could be improved.
This is your chance to join a friendly group of like-minded individuals and possibly take your photography in new directions. So whatever your level of knowledge and skills come along to exchange ideas and techniques, all you need is your digital camera and your imagination!
