Interesting techniques don't do it for me alone. Together with some interesting subjects and a good dose of variety though and I'm hooked............... www.elijahgowin.com
Colin if you got time please share, How for instance does the idea tie in with the technique, does that matter am I missing the point? I was attracted to them, a gut thing, a feeling that it had something new to say to me that's how most photographers end up here, but what he's saying still not sure. I have heard him discribed as a story teller and I can see that with the mono work.
I don't know if the subject matter does tie in with the technique. The muted palette and interweaving of the fibres add to the washed out look - which adds to the multiple interpretations you can put on them.
There's a lot going on in them even though they seem so simple - and that's what I like above the arts and craftiness. A little bit Rodchenko, a little bit sci-fi, a little post-apocalyptic, a little bit 911 all twisted into a nostalgic childhood memory idyll.
The more you look the more you see in other words and that's always good - and quite rare.
The falling and floating ones are great - and ever so complex!
